Forget Big Data, Do Some Inner Analytics Instead

How exactly does a person change? I believe that change comes through greater self-awareness. Greater self-awareness comes through doing what I refer to as “inner analytics.”

Today’s business trend is about harnessing “big data” for organizations, but what about doing some “inner analytics” on yourself? Why do employees tirelessly cull data for insights for their organization, but never use the same rigor on themselves? It makes no sense. Why do we shortchange ourselves like that? Why do we plan so well for our company’s next fiscal year, but we give little emphasis to our own fiscal year or our own annual plan? That nonsense has to stop.

No Rule Book on How to “Human”

Essentially, the genesis behind all of this is caused by the fact that humans are not taught to study themselves in a particularly focused or concentrated manner. The process is entirely piecemeal and haphazard and has a lot to do with how interested you are in personal development, self-help concepts or therapy.
